New Concrete Plant Hopeful Boost for Local Economy
In today's economy, the opening of a new factory or plant is big news. A new plant or factory means that more local jobs will be created, which will hopefully bring some economic relief.
Pennsylvania will see some economic relief when Halliburton builds a new concrete plant, which is slated to create about 300 jobs.
Here is the report form the Associated Press:
MUNCY, Pa. - Construction is beginning on a concrete plant to serve north-central Pennsylvania's expanding natural gas drilling industry.
Local officials held a groundbreaking Monday for the complex being built by oilfield services company Halliburton Co. It will cost $10 million to $12 million and will include a concrete plant, warehouse, offices, truck wash and maintenance bays.
Halliburton officials say the site is appealing because it is close to areas where exploration companies are drilling into the potentially lucrative Marcellus Shale gas formation. Company official Wolf Pabst says construction of a sand plant as part of a third phase will depend on demand from the gas industry. He said the complex about 65 miles north of Harrisburg could employ up to 300 people eventually.
