Concrete is one of the most common construction materials in the world today. Some calculations put the number of global cement production at more than two billion metric tons per year. But there are ways for concrete to be made in a more eco-friendly way. According to some Chicago concrete contractors, concrete made with fly ash cement is much greener. Fly ash is a byproduct of coal-fired power production and can be recycled to form up to half of the cement in standard concrete.
